The first step is cutting the stone to approximately 1/16 of an inch of its final size. Then, the CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machine is programmed to know the size of the stone or stones on the table. You can put multiple pieces of stone on the table and work on them together.

For a mill table I'll use a man-made stone like a medium india with a lot of oil/kerosene/mineral spirits. The use of a coarse stone like the dark gray carborundum should be avoided as they are, IMO, too coarse for they type of work.
